If I knew then...
Hillary stating "If I knew then what I know now, I would not have endorsed the Iraq war amendment" is such a lame excuse. If she knew what Bill would be like, she wouldn't have married him, and would not now be a Senator and presidential candidate. For that matter, if she had known about the hijackers, she would have prevented 9/11! Ah, if I had known the stock returns for the past twenty years, I'd have retired as a billionaire many years ago...

Humans step on ants all the time, and thoughtlessly.
Sometimes we recognize them as pests and squash them intentionally, as such.
Presuming that reverence for life is based on relative levels of intelligence, (we even are very tolerant of the death of life forms relatively close to our own: (ex: monkeys, dolphins)
And also presuming that any alien life form capable of faster-than-light travel is orders of magnitude more sophisticated intellectually than us,
In the situation where our Earth is discovered by aliens, how might we express ourselves in order to inspire reverence enough to merit respect sufficient enough to (1) not be stepped on, and/or (2) initiate a dialogue.
Geometry? We built pyramids and cities. Ants built tall ant hills.
Also, is there any _universally_ revered form of expression?
Math? Our communications are encoded when they enter space.
Art/Music? All art is subjective and contextually evaluated.

What _emotional_ satisfaction/reward to bright/capable people get from talking to less bright/capable people?
